PRP TREATMENT TO HELP PROMOTE HEALING AND RELIEVE PAIN
PRP therapy, or platelet-rich plasma therapy treatment, is commonly used to treat injuries, especially sports-related injuries. Jimenez Chiropractic Med-Spa uses PRP treatment to help alleviate pain, reverse loss of motion, and enhance the body’s self-healing capabilities.
PRP treatment is an outpatient procedure performed by our chiropractic team in about 45 to 90 minutes. Prior to the procedure, we’ll draw a blood sample to extract the platelet-rich plasma. The PRP will be run through a centrifuge machine that separates and concentrates the platelet count to produce a natural serum that can promote healing. We’ll inject the serum at the point of injury to encourage healing. You may experience pain and swelling for up to five days, but most patients can resume normal activities within one to three days.
HOW CAN PRP HELP ME?
Although PRP treatment is not right for every patient, it has shown to be helpful in treating many conditions, including the following:
- Tendon injuries: Many athletes suffer from tendon injuries, like torn rotator cuffs, caused by repetitive movements. These injuries are difficult to treat, but PRP can help promote tissue regeneration at the injury site.
- Back and spine injuries: PRP treatment at the site of a herniated disc or other back or neck injury can aid in tissue healing, pain relief, and reduced inflammation. It may be used as an alternative treatment to surgery.
- Nerve pain: PRP treatment shows promise for helping to treat nerve damage and injuries, including sciatica and carpal tunnel syndrome. The plasma can help generate nerve tissues, restore function, and reduce pain.
PRP therapy can be used to treat a host of other injuries and conditions, ranging from injured muscles and ligaments to osteoarthritis. If you’ve suffered from a sports-related injury, PRP treatment might aid in your recovery.
